The What To Wear Guide For Wedding Planners : Wedding Day Shoes

Hi Planners!

One of the most frequent questions I get from wedding planners at all levels - Help! My Feet Hurt! What shoes do you wear on wedding days?!?

Friend, you are not alone. My feet hurt too! I have been trying so many shoes out over the years and I think I finally found the right recipe and I’m excited to share it with you.

Truthfully in my 20 years and the hundreds of shoes I have tried I really do not think there is a shoe that feels comfortable for 12+ hours on a wedding day. Maybe we are simply asking too much from a shoe?! haha

However, what I have found to really work is having a 2-3 shoe rotation is an absolute game changer!

I recommend starting the day in a running shoe or cross trainer with support and cushion. I tend to wear all black for set up or wear these with my wedding day attire just for the set up time.

Then you typically need to have a nicer and more professional shoe on for anytime you are client and guest facing. Loafers and wingtip style shoes are really the best here. They give a bit more support than a ballet slipper or flat and for me, made a huge difference in comfort and stamina.

Then, once guests start dancing I will change into a third shoe, sometimes a more old lady looking nicer flat or loafer. Or depending on how long the day has been, I’ll change back into that initial set up shoe. I think if that set up shoe is all black, it’s a bit better at this hour, it looks less athletic and most people wouldn’t noticed you changed.

This combination allows for your feet to be a bit less tired, a lot more supported and you were still dressed professionally when you needed to be.

Here are some of my favorite shoes for wedding planners! I hope they help you find the right shoes for your next wedding.

xo, Heather
