How to Create a Mood Board Without Photoshop

Creating mood boards is one of your big responsibilities as a wedding planner. While your couples may not explicitly hire you because of your mood board abilities, they do hire you to create a personal design for their wedding—and doing that starts with nailing the creative concept. So today, we wanted to share some of our favorite resources for building mood boards when you are not an expert at Photoshop or Illustrator. Read on for the 3 programs you can use to easily create a mood board when you are not a graphic designer!

Powerpoint

If you have Powerpoint on your computer, it’s time to stop thinking of it as only for boring business presentations! Powerpoint is actually a really great software platform for creating mood boards. Whether you pull up one of their ready-to-use design templates or build your own from scratch, you can pull in inspiration images, color swatches, and anything else you can turn into an image file to create your mood board.

Canva

Canva quickly became a favorite design tool for creatives everywhere since it’s launch in 2012 and for good reason. The software was built with the intention of making great design accessible to everyone (regardless of their design skills), so to say it is easy to use would be an understatement. And, with tens of thousands of customizable templates in its database, you can create a beautiful mood board in minutes.

Blogstomp

The last user-friendly platform that you can use to create mood boards in is lesser-known, but still great! Blogstomp started as software meant for creating image collages for photographers and bloggers and proved to be helpful in more ways than that. The platform makes it easy to upload and arrange images in a collage style, that is perfect for creating mood boards.

The moral of the story is, that you do not need to know how to use Photoshop to quickly create a mood board! And, if you are looking for an out-of-the-box solution, our new wedding design templates include not only a customizable mood board template (created with Powerpoint) but 2 versions of a full design deck and more! You can learn more about it and pick it up to help streamline your design process in the Academy shop!
